About the Bauerfeind GenuTrain Knee Support
The Bauerfeind GenuTrain is a medical-grade knee support built around a patented Omega+ pad — a silicone insert that surrounds the kneecap rather than covering it, applying targeted pressure to the tissue either side and producing a gentle massaging action as the knee bends and straightens. The knitted body is anatomically shaped, compressive without being rigid, and the current Train Knit is around 20% lighter than the previous generation with extra breathability behind the knee, which is the area most people find uncomfortable in a sleeve worn all day. Flexible polyurethane stays sit either side of the joint, and meniscus wings and Hoffa pads give focused support around the joint line. It is used for osteoarthritis, joint instability, effusion, tendon and ligament irritation, and in the later stages of recovery after knee surgery. Ten sizes are stocked across the Standard and Comfort cuts, in titan.
How it works
Compression from the knitted fabric supports the joint and helps manage swelling, while the Omega+ pad concentrates pressure around the kneecap and the soft tissue either side of it. As the knee moves, the pad works against that tissue, which is what produces the massaging effect described in Bauerfeind's own materials.
